Charlotte, NC – January 31, 2024 – Emporos, the industry’s leading Pharmacy Commerce Solution, including Point of Sale, announced today that it is PCI certified on PCI DSS version 4.0 as a Level 1 Service Provider. This recognition ensures the highest level of security for Emporos customers, giving them peace of mind that the tools they’re using to conduct pharmacy transactions are safe and secure.
This is another accolade that showcases Emporos is living by its mission to make healthcare commerce safe and simple. Beginning February 15, 2024, merchants will be reporting on version 4.0. As an early adopter of PCI DSS version 4.0 status, Emporos understands the many security standards that are critical to patient safety and the pharmacy industry. Choosing non-compliance with PCI DSS version 4.0 by the deadline has an array of potential consequences from regulatory fines and penalties, loss of payment processing privileges, loss of patient trust, data breaches, increased security costs, and legal fees consequences for merchants.
As the new standard comes into official effect on April 1, 2024, Emporos is prepared to support your pharmacy with our payments expertise every step of the way. Mitigating disruptions to your operations and maintaining patient safety is our highest concern.
- Emporos works diligently to take PCI burden off your plate by designing solutions with safety and simplicity in mind. As your service provider, we will help you, as a merchant, understand your PCI burden.
- PCI 4.0 certification covers the Emporos multi-gateway, multi-processor solution that integrates seamlessly into your pharmacy management system.
- With this certification, Emporos is excited to offer new payments software to enable pharmacies to meet their patients wherever, whenever in the first half of 2024. Check out our new solutions: Patient Payments and Manual Entry.
- Emporos is always in pursuit of the highest payment security standards. We will continue to serve as a leader on the front-edge of the security needs of the payments industry and in promoting security as a continuous process.
“We are delighted to continue evolving with the pharmacy industry as the premier payments provider for outpatient, independent, and specialty pharmacies, chains, and long-term care facilities,” said Eric Kristensen, CEO at Emporos. “We will always do right by our customers to adhere to the highest standards of security and safety that protect patients and the pharmacies that provide their care. We are thrilled to add PCI 4.0 certification to our security standards.”
PCI DSS version 4.0 is the first meaningful change to the PCI standard in over a decade. With it comes a greater emphasis on improving procedures to protect against the evolving threat landscape businesses are facing today. Merchants who recently completed compliance against PCI version 3.2.1 will still be valid for one year from their validation date.
